Our Song Returns Falling In Love At The Wrong Time edition by Sheila Bradley Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
This book reminds me on my own romance and how I met my darling. Overall story mood is light hearted with twists going up and down. You will find yourself immersed from very beginning. The only remark I have is that its a bit short for my taste, so I expect a sequel from an author. A+++++
I received a book throug my mail in exchange for an honest review.
I received a complimentary copy for my review.
Every action depicted sounds like a report. I don't think it's necessary to report everything in a manner like, "She did this or that" I believe I have a problem with the beginning mostly because of how the scene opens up with a series of statements of Maggie's actions. I like that I know she needs to be somewhere soon, but I don't find it interesting to read. Why should I care about why she's late? I need a stronger hook.
Is there a reason why they talk to each other in such a way? Using terms that doesn't seem very common, and uncharacteristic to either Maggie or Patrick.
Some sentences are oddly phrased.
From reading the beginning, I wasn't sure what to look forward to. I know that Maggie seems to have a thing for Patrick, but still thinks about Bill. I understand that Maggie and Patrick also work together as wedding performers, but what I don't understand is what is the conflict? I can't see anything happening that could possibly get me curious enough to read. That makes the first chapter a bit weak. The story sounds like a regular person's life which makes it easier to connect with, but putting in some exaggerated scenes would make the story more interesting. Why else would people watch dramas?
So the summary for this book tells you how it is. Maggie will be singing for the wedding of her former high school boyfriend and singing the song that was theirs. I had hoped and prayed the summary was a bit misleading and there was a different male lead for Maggie to recover with or this was far before the wedding happened. But, nope, the groom is the MC and the whole story takes place over two weeks, starting the day before the wedding.
With the novella length, there is no time to feel anything but disgust for both characters. Maggie hasn't seen this man for 12 years, is heartbroken that he's married and then proceeds to stalk him to the shelter he volunteers at. This is how home wreckers start honey. Bill is a nothing character really. We see him with his wife at their wedding then acting pleasant to Maggie while volunteering before having a pretty valid argument with his wife then kissing Maggie. Keep in mind the couple are newlyweds. I was just so disgusted.
Sorry to spoil, but Bill presumably leaves his wife of two whole weeks on Christmas Eve for Maggie, whom he doesn't even know anymore! I wish the wife happiness to find a real man for her next Christmas.
Didn't like the premise of the story.
